Historic Fort Steilacoom "School Visitation Day"

Re-enactors in period dress will show the four historic buildings of the U.S. Army during its occupation of the fort. Rainier Dragon Boat Festival
Thea’s Park Foss Waterway, 535 E Dock St, Tacoma
32 teams from all over the Pacific Northwest converge on Thea's Park for a day of competitive dragon boat racing. Dragon boat racing is an international sport originating in China. Dragon boats, when dressed with heads and tails, can range up to 48' in length. A team of 18-20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steers person race the boats down a 500 meter course. Event parking is available in the Pierce Transit Parking Garage with shuttle service leaving from Freight House Square. Free admission.

DuPont "DAWG Dash"
DuPont City Hall, 1700 Civic Drive
10am. University of Washington students are bringing their year-end project of raising awareness for Canine Assistants to DuPont, and you can help them raise funds for this worthwhile cause. The walk will benefit canine assistants, which is an organization that trains and places service and seizure dogs with children and adults throughout the country. The walk will start at DuPont City Hall and follow the Sequalitchew Creek Trail. All dogs must be on a leash and owners need to scoop up after their pooch. Registration is $8 per person for early registration, or $10 per person the day of the event. There is no charge for dogs. You can pick up and turn in your registration form at Anytime Fitness in DuPont.
