9am-5pm.  A basic First Aid & CPR course. The course is subject to cancellation if the class minimum of 4 people is not met. Queen Victoria's Birthday at Fort Nisqually

Point Defiance Park, 5400 N Pearl St, Tacoma

11am-5pm. Relive the festive 19th century celebrations surrounding a royal holiday. A merry mood permeates the Fort on this occasion. At noon, bagpipes announce the start of the traditional tributes to the queen. The pipes are followed by a musket volley, toasts to the queen, and a cannon salute. Many of the Fort’s ladies and gentlemen will be dressed in their finest, 1850s fashion. Throughout the day, guests can join in croquet and other 19th century games.  Event admission is $8-$10, and children 3 and younger are free.

Ray Evans Memorial Fishing Event

Totally Kids Only Race

Historic Fort Steilacoom "Uncommon Currency: Money Matters on Puget Sound in the mid-19th Century"

Quarters 2, 9601 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood

2pm.  laire Keller-Scholz will relate the many mediums of exchange in use at Fort Nisqually and the surrounding areas in the 1840s and 50s. She will examine how Fort Nisqually served as a "bank" and acted as a middleman for a variety of financial transactions in Puget Sound.  Donations accepted.

Lakewood Playhouse "Pirates of Penzance"

Gilbert and Sullivan's hilarious, hopeful farce follows young Frederic, an orphan who has mistakenly been apprenticed to an ineffectual but raucous band of pirates. He disavows the pirates' way of life and falls for the beautiful Mabel. Frederic's melodious tones win over the heart of Major General Stanley's songbird daughter, Mabel, but when the Pirate King discovers General Stanley has lied about being an orphan to keep the pirates from stealing all of his belongings and carrying off his bevy of beautiful daughters, an ingeniousparadox" may prevent.
